Pastor Keith Radke & his wonderful wife, Angie
"Behold, I
have set before thee an open door,
and no man can shut it"
Jesus
(Revelation 3:8
KJV)
Pastor Keith stepped through an open door in early 2005 to
plant Calvary of Elizabeth City as an outreach of
Calvary Chapel Virginia Beach. His ministry experience before planting Calvary
of Elizabeth City included serving as a worship leader, children's
ministry director, college ministry leader and youth pastor at
Calvary Chapel Hampton Roads from 1997-2003; then serving at
Calvary Chapel Virginia Beach from 2003-2005 as a worship leader,
radio ministry leader, and assistant to Pastor Thomas Powell with
community outreach in Elizabeth City, NC. These experiences were
used by God to provide the training and experiences necessary for
continuing to serve God in the capacity of Senior Pastor of Calvary
of Elizabeth City.
In late 2004, God called Keith and his wife, Angie, to make the
move to Elizabeth City to plant the local church. The Radke's
packed up and moved to Elizabeth CIty in early 2005, where God has
continually demonstrated His faithfulness in their home and in the
church. Calvary of Elizabeth City began as a Sunday afternoon
service in the Radke's home, and now continues to flourish as a
growing church fellowship with two weekly services, men's and
women's fellowships, and a growing impact in world missions through
Calvary's support of Gospel For Asia UK and Calvary upcoming
venture into supporting missionaries who will be working at Calvary
Chapel Bible College in Seigen, Germany.
Pastor Keith looks back on his life so far and marvels:
"Sometimes I wondered why I ended
up in Virginia Beach, or why I was involved in all of these
previous ministry opportunities and what it had to do with my
future. Sometimes I served in a particular capacity because it was
the greatest need at the time, and other times I served in a
capacity because it was how I wanted to use my gifts for the Lord.
It turns out God was giving me a well rounded ministry experience
to prepare me to become a pastor of a local church. You don't
always see why God does what He does while He's doing it. But when
you look back, it becomes apparent that He orders our steps and has
a plan for us to walk in. It's easier to trust Him when you
recognize He is in control. I'm just thrilled to watch how God
works through simple and ordinary people like myself to make an
eternal impact for His kingdom."
Keith and Angie have 6 children: Abigail (9), Timothy (8), Hannah
(5), Lydia (4), Luke (2), & Silas (infant). They've been
married since 1998 and celebrated their 10th anniversary in
June.
